Bright Saturday

Bright Saturday- April 3, 2010

This is the Saturday of Holy week. It commemorates the salvation granted by our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Holy Nativity Fast - November 25, 2010 - January 6, 2011

This is one of the main fasts in our church. The church placed a 43 days fast to commemorate the 40 days fast of Moses before receiving the Ten Commandments from God. Then it added the 3 days the Copts fasted before God for the miracle of moving Almokhatam Mountain. In essence the church is preparing us for the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Feast of the Cross - March 19th , also September 27 - 29, 2010

In this feast we celebrate the dedication of the Church to the Holy Cross. The Holy Cross has a great meaning to us as Christians. By way of it we received our salvation, when Christ our Lord paid for all our sins by dying on the cross.

The Feast of the Assumption - August 22, 2010

The Assumption of Saint Mary is a belief held by Christians that the Virgin Mary at the end of her life, was physically taken up into heaven.

Saint Mary’s Fast - August 7 - 21, 2010

The Coptic Church venerates St. Mary as the "Theotokos," i.e., the Mother of God, whom the Divine Grace chose to bear the Word of God in her womb by the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:35). Since she is considered to be the exemplary member in the church, and the interceding mother on behalf of her spiritual children, she is exalted above heavenly and earthly creatures.

The Apostles Feast - July 12, 2010

This is the feast of martyrdom of the Apostles Saint Peter and Saint Paul. In this feast, the liturgy of blessing the water takes place, in which the priest washed the feet of his people commemorating what the Lord Jesus did for his disciples.

The Escape of the Holy family to Egypt - June 1, 2010

The Coptic Church is distinguished among all nations with this unique divine work, by the coming of our Lord to Egypt among the Gentile.

The Apostles Fast - May 24 - July 11, 2010

The Apostles Fast is a fast which begins after the Feast of Pentecost and continues until the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul. This fast commemorates the preparation of the Apostles for preaching God’s word to the whole world.

Holy Pentecost Feast - May 23, 2010

This feast commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles. It represents the birthday of the Christian Church. As the Apostles received the tongues of fire, they began to speak in different languages. Therefore, God paved the way to his Kingdom for the whole world and we all became one body in Christ.

Ascension Feast - May 13, 2010

The Ascension Feast is celebrated on the 40th day after Easter. It is celebrated on a Thursday. In this feast we recall Jesus Christ who is raised and lifts us up to sit with Him in heaven (Eph 2:6)

Martyrdom of Saint Mark - May 8, 2010

Saint Mark is the founder of our church and is the first pope of the church of Alexandria. He is one of the seventy apostles and, he also is the author of "The Gospel of Saint Mark".
